Pilot Project
Residential
D House
The project is KJHP Design Group’s first take on residential design. This project is the pioneer residential building crafted by the group with the belief that every detail produces a solidified work of architecture.
D house intends to be inclined toward neighboring Asian influences – springing from its materials, form, and planning. The roofing material used is stone coated, emphasizing the corner details, which embrace the character of a Japanese roof carried by the vertical pillar-like structure from the exterior. Looking at the right side of the building, the pillars that separate the fenestrations also act as sun baffles, allowing a cool breeze inside the house. Upon approaching the building, it is impossible to miss the vertical characters that unify the entire structure in a pavilion-style design.
Moving inside, the double ceiling-high porch serves as an air stack that invites passive cooling from the ground floor to the family area on the second floor. The living, dining, and kitchen areas are planned openly with no boundary to combine into a singular stretch laid out as a gathering space to suit the family’s various activities—a fundamental consideration in Asian residential planning. These spaces shape an open yet intimate relationship to be fit for a young family.
This project upholds the core values and beliefs of the Team. It displays the qualities the group aspires to promote and develop further in the following Team projects.
