Pines' Brownies and Delicacies Manufacturing Center

KJHP Design Group is honored to be given opportunities to work with local institutions in Pampanga. Among these institutions is Pines’ Brownies and Delicacies established in Guagua, Pampanga. Pines’ products have become a staple in Kapampangan households and go-to pasalubong for friends and family outside the Province. As the business continues to persist, the development of its physical facilities must also stay up to par.

To be built a few walks from their current manufacturing area is a new facility that will house their expanding need for floor space. A new zoning layout will ensure efficient and compliant workflows from the administration down to the support facilities. The technical aspects of safe food manufacturing facilities were laid out by our consultancy group from the Industrial Engineering Department of Tarlac University and the Bureau of Food and Drug Administration (BFAD) Region III. The upgraded layout rigorously conforms to different pertinent guidelines from cross-contamination prevention, installation of proper fittings eliminating touch, to minute details such as curved wall-floor terminations. Guidelines for proper passive and mechanical ventilation are also followed as air may contain contaminants that can affect the quality of the products being processed.

Another aspect of designing for established brands is adopting and re-presenting their image in an architectural sense. Recognizable color applications of the corporate colors of Pines’ Brownies are applied employing similar colored materials: orange color in the form of brick sand yellow color on tinted glass doors. The rest of the facility is done in neutral colors and finishes that not only give cues of a modern facility but also conform to food-grade standards.

Design and functionality, in this case with more stringent measures, go in sync in this facility. The value of designing systems that make things run coordinately is a goal that can not only be applied to larger-scale structures like the Pines’ Manufacturing Center but can be aspired to smaller-scale buildings. No concern is too small; being mindful of every nook and cranny of design produces an effective and unified architectural product.
