S House

This Asian Contemporary House intends to create a prominent structure that can withstand the test of time.

Approaching the S House, it greets you with its volumetric forms of the carport, the fence, and the main house, which exhibits a strong character softened by the building's greeneries. One of the primary volumetric forms of the house is the carport which, above it, is the balcony, which allows the owners to have a great view of their community and the sunset.

The façade employs additive and subtractive play in forms, showing the dynamism of shadows cast by the sunlight during the day and its lights at night. Looking upward at the façade, a projected brick wall on the second floor contrasts with the overall look of its building envelope. The brick wall is strategically situated to baffle the sun's heat from inside the house. The gutter-less roof projects an Asian quality on its upturned corners and its asphalt shingles as the roofing material. This type of roofing produces a minimal sound that gives off noise caused by the rain than conventional metal roofing. This roof also decreases the velocity of running water as it falls on the gutter-less ends of the top.

The design of the living and dining areas prioritizes minimalism and openness. Large windows facing an open court create a long open space for blending indoor and outdoor areas and extending the size of the house beyond its physical boundaries. The house's character aims to embody the family's aspirations for a stable, secluded, and long-lasting abode paired with its timeless architecture.
